HPA Alumni Update 15Jan05(1st)
Introduction
Dear Folks,
Much has been written on the Tsunami disaster of 26Dec04. RMG medical team of 2 doctors and 2 nurses(part of our Medical Foundation) spent a week, treating about 600 patients. One of our lady staff lost parents and 2 children in Aceh. Parents found, but children still missing. She is still there posting advertisements etc with hope for closure.
Please mark your calendar for the Annual General Meeting cum Election on 01Apr05(fri) between 7-10pm. Finger food, drinks will be provided. Members get to attend for free, get to stand for election and of course the right to elect. Non-members are welcome but will be charged a nominal fee. We are presently scouting for an interesting place to combine meeting, networking, food and some form of entertainment.
For those into golf balls, there is a Golf Friendly cum Dinner on 16Feb05(wed) starting from 1pm.
The newly renovated Fort Siloso, on Sentosa is worth a visit. Excellent for locals and visitors alike, especially now that tunnel and gun complex are opened. Drive in, parked at free car park next to NTUC chalet, budget at least an hour and half on site.
Lastly, a word of caution on some drugs, reported in ST 20Nov04.

Drugs carrying risks.....source from ST 20Nov04
We refer to the article " Five Popular Drugs Carry Risks, Safety Expert Warns" which was published in the Straits Times on 20 Nov 2004. The five drugs mentioned - Crestor, Meridia, Bextra, Accutane and Serevent are said to pose certain health risks. The risks for Crestor that are cited are common to all statins. US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has responded that the five drugs mentioned are currently approved as safe and effective for use.
