HPA Alumni Update 03Jun05(7th)
Introduction
Dear Folks,
In the recent Annual General Meeting on 8Apr05, we had a great turn out of about 55 persons. There was an orderly parade. Outgoing EXCO members include: Wong Tai, Soh Eng Ann, Tan Chin Sien, Amos Leong, Sunny Chan, Incoming EXCO members include: Cheah Kean Huat, Loh Soh May, Jimmy Tan, Kong Eng Teck and Stanley Tan. We all had a merry time..food, drinks and fantastic fellowship.
Eng Teck tells me he wants to organize an event every quarter, modeled after Tony Johnson quarterly beer bust.never mind sales target. Jimmy loves to have all of us play golf every month. Kean Huat is working on making sure every alumni member gets his/her money worth; I am counting on him creatively declaring dividend to all. Soh May wants to put more soul into all of us contributing back to society and Stanley is our new kid off the block.
Please log in date of 11November2005(Friday) for our Annual Event.
When chicken tastes like monitor lizard
Grew up on monitor lizard meat, direct from Pulau Semakau, courtesy of granny. When it comes to Chinese New Year, we get to taste real chicken and we go 'this thing tastes like monitor lizard!'
Mum's pacifier
My family & I were having dinner in our small kitchen. A beetle of sort landed on the 'peak' of my wife's dress. As she is not into creepy-crawly, she started screaming at my son to get rid of the insect off her dress.
He sauntered over, examined closely and remarked: 'relax mum, it's only trying to breast feed!'
Cool advice from Prof Walter Tan, Plastic Surgeon/Medical Director ...laughter a good medicine.
Recently, I had problems with my email SPAM filter in the office. Here's dialogue.
Prof: You are right about getting more spam. I am now receiving tips on Penile enhancement!
HJK: I am quite happy with my size. Otherwise got to spend more money buying larger size under pants.
Prof: In case of any difficulty finding the right size, wearing of the Sarong is advised. Cooler as well!
With an ageing population, he is, understandably, my wife's favourite doctor!
Carpe Diem
In the recent May Day celebration, NTUC Labour Movement honoured SM Goh. It came in the form of a tall tastefully crafted book. All guests were given a copy immediately after his speech. As my wife & I were seated close by, I got my copy soon after he sat down. I took a dash across and requested him to autograph my book. Initially, he was reluctant citing concern that others will do likewise. I pleaded and his wife gave a broad approving smile!
He selected a page and sign off meticulously. I told him it was better than a hole-in-one to me. He roared! By this time, a few others had the same idea and were promptly stopped by men in shades (security). Anybody wants to buy this 1 copy from me: Got to build up my children's college fund you know!
